Soccer Game

Today we won our soccer game 2 to nothing! Claudia scored both of our goals, which was good for her! It was really really rainy at the beginning of the game, but then it cooled down a bit. For a while I was worried that we were going to have a rainy Halloween, but the weather declines! :) Excited for the rest of the soccer season, and for Halloween tomorrow! :)

All Hallows Eve Party

Last night my family went to an all -hallows -eve party, which was a lot of fun! We had delicious chili and scrumptious cornbread with maple butter, a creation sent from heaven above. :) We played some games upstairs with friends of ours there, and then the family hosting the party, The Richards, set up a haunted house in their basement, which was really cool. It had 3 or 4 little sections set up where the person had died of doing one of the seven deadly sins, which was awesome. It was known as " The Underworld", from Mr. Richards, a.k.a St. Micheal The Archangel. We got to guess which sin the maniquins, dolls, or some other figure had died of, whhich was cool, and Mr. Manella, one of the dads there, and my dad, along with Micheal, a boy there were hiding in different places and jumped out at as, which was really scary and made me scream a number of times! At the end some of us did saint sharings, where we either read a quote from a favorite saint, or read a story about one of them. Overall, it was SUPER fun, and if they are planning on doing it next year, I am totally up for it!

Peter and The Starcatchers Series

Since Peter and The Starcatchers are on of my FAVORITE series of all time, along with The MDBC series, I will give you a little review on it. I didn't write it, but it might make you want to read the book. :) This is just for the first book, there are four books in the series where it is a long time ago, and Dave Barry and Ridely Pearson just came out with a new one, called " The Bridge to Neverland ", which I just got on my NOOK, totally worth every page! It was . . . delicious. It was! I can't help saying that it was just really good! :) Here is the review by some lady..... hope you enjoy!

Fourteen-year-old Peter is an orphan who doesn't exactly know how old he truly is, just like he doesn't know his last name. So when St. Norbert's Home for Wayward Boys places him aboard a ship called The Never Land, along with four of his mates, on a trip to an island ruled by the evil King Zarboff, where they will be forced to serve as slaves, Peter doesn't know exactly what to think. But when he meets up with fourteen-year-old Molly Aster, a rich passenger, traveling with her governess Mrs. Bumbrake, mysterious things begin happening. For instance, Molly can speak to porpoises, and she's hiding information about the strange trunk located in a holding cell upon The Never Land. Information about the magic, and mystery, that the trunk is holding inside. But when the notorious Black Stache learns about the treasure, the passengers upon The Never Land are in for a lot of trouble. Trouble that leads them all to fight with pirates, and become stranded on a desert island.

Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson have created an absolutely amazing re-telling of PETER PAN. Peter is an exciting character who is kind, and fun, while at the same time intelligent, even though he hasn't received any formal education. Molly, on the other hand, is brave and hard-headed, and will appeal greatly to female readers, as she possesses true girl power, which shines through in every page that she appears in. Readers who enjoyed the recent movie PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN will adore the character of Black Stache, as he puts the mean into PETER AND THE STARCATCHERS, what with his nasty attitude, and vicious orders. Overall this is an amazing adventure story that will be enjoyed by male and female readers of all ages, whether they are a fan of the original story of PETER PAN or not.

Prettttyyyy sunrise!

There was a really really pretty sunrise the other morning, so I ran outside in my bare feet and they hurt so much they almost fell off - cold feet, cold weather, early in the morning, and cement do NO go well together! - but it was still worth it! Here are some pictures....

SUNRISE- a poem by me. :)

Breaks the dawn of day,
The night it does betray,
My breath it takes away.

It colors the whole sky
Sneaks up on darkness nearby
Blinds my very eyes

Lights the skies
At dusk it dies

sunrise.

Well, hope ya liked it !

What I am doing this week . . . end

Well the week is almost over, but I am starting the rec-cup for soccer this weekend, which means two soccer games a weekend until December 3rd! So that means a LOT of running, and a LOT of soccer! :) Tomorrow I am going to a Halloween party, but what makes it so cool is that it is like a saint Halloween party, because what is the day after Halloween but All Saints Day! We can go dressed in our costumes OR a saint costume, but we all are going to bring our favorite saint quote and everyone there will have to guess! :) So I am excited for that and for soccer! Besides that, I am just planning to chill, relax, and chillax. hee hee. :) have a great weekend!

Halloween

I am getting really excited for Halloween! I am not at all the kind of person that like witches and potions and weird stuff like that, but I love getting together with friends, going to Halloween parties ( like one tomorrow. :)   ) , dressing up, and going trick-or-treating! Just for fun, I will put all of the costumes I have gone in that I remember :

When I was 11, I was Little Miss Matched ( did not go well, definitely not doing that again!
When I was 10, I was a pink lady bug :)
When I was 9 years old, I was Mother Teresa
When I was 8, I was St. Joan of Arc
When I was 7, I was Cinderella
When I was 6, I was Cinderella
When I was 2 and 3, I was a pumkpin. I can't remember anything else!

Oh! And this year, I am going to be an elf. :) I will definitely have pictures of me, plus the rest of my siblings! My outfit, as usual, ( which I like best ) is homemade, but a LOT cuter than a store-bought costume. I haven't seen a real elf costume, but I got the idea last week at Hallmark when my mom bought a cute Santa / elf hat there that sings! :)

So, comment about what you are going to be, or email me! I would love to hear!

Newspaper!

Our soccer team was mentioned in the Federal Way Mirror, along with a picture from when we won the soccer tournament! Here is the article:

SPORTS BRIEF: FWFC Panthers win Apple Cup title

By CASEY OLSON
Federal Way Mirror Sports editor

Oct 14 2011

The Federal Way Football Club girls under-12 Panthers won the 2011 Wenatchee Apple Cup 12-13 Silver bracket on Oct. 9. The Panthers won four-straight games to take the title.
The Panthers won their first game, 2-1, over the Key Strikers, beat the Wenatchee Sharks in their second game, 6-0, and downed the North Bend Black Widows, 3-1, in their third day. The Panthers beat the Ephrata Extreme in the championship, 4-0. During the tournament, six of the 13 players on the Panthers’ roster scored goals.
Federal Way’s Raelyn Gradel also defended her title from last year in the Goalie Wars by winning the u-12 bracket in three-straight matches. Goalie Wars is a first to five goals or a two-minute match where the two goalies play head-to-head in a 30-yard by 20-yard field divided in half with two full-size facing goals on the end lines.
The team included Mary Grace Curran, Claudia Steed, Calista Rubish, Jadyn Hatch, Emily Logan, Dana Wolf, Claire Thoreson, Leanne Bryant, Anne Marie Curran, Raelyn Gradel, Victoria Goldsmith, Megan Schafer and Cheyenne Welker. The team is coached by Shane Caney and Roland Schafer.

Saturday

Ahh..Saturdays.  Well this morning I woke up feeling happy and not happy. Happy because I got to sleep in. :) And because I have no school. :) But sad because I have a little homework left. Ya, I couldn't finish it yesterday cuz my one of my friends came over, which was really fun. :) And I am also sad because I have a soccer game at 2:15. I love soccer, but I HATE games that are really late in the afternoon. Because that means that we have to leave at 12:30, get there at one, game will start two fifteen, end at three twenty, we get home at 3:45. Ulgh. And I have the same thing tomorrow. But, I guess, if you really love soccer, it's worth it!  :) Still feeling a little sleepy....Have a fun Saturday!

Rummage Sale

Today was the school's rummage sale, run by Blanchet homeroom. I do the school newspaper, so I took pictures and wrote an article for it.

Here is my article:
Rummage Sale

Thanks to Blanchet homeroom, many kids in need will be helped this Christmas.  Last year , the rummage sale made $956. 50! This year, we made $1,029.14  which is even better!  You may be wondering, " Where does all the money go to? "  Well, students in Blanchet homeroom write down ages for a boy or a girl, and then their homeroom teacher, Mrs. Mary Issaacson takes those ages to the store to buy gifts for The Dove Tree.  The leftover money?  Well, Mrs. Stewart may use it for other school needs, and it may go to other people in need. One year with the leftover money from the rummage sale, we helped out with people who had gotten their homes and other things destroyed in a flood.  Thanks to all of the St. Vincent famililes and students who donate toys and other things, the rummage sale turned out to be a great success. There has been over ten rummage sales, and students are excited when the time comes around for another one.  One change this year was that it was in the Activity Center, instead of the Parish Hall. The students came to the rummage sale with about 10 cents to $5. 00 .  The rummage sale items go for great prices, and make awesome birthday and Christmas presents as well.  At the rummage sale, one of the big items were the raffle prizes, as they are every year.  Even though students don't have the guaruntee of winning the raffle prize, the money all goes to a great cause.

Booing!

Last night, my family went booing. It is a tradition in our family to do it every year around Halloween time. We make baskets filled with candy, cute little Halloween Decorations, Halloween stickers, special drinks, chocolates, goodies from Trader Joes, and cute Halloween t-shirts and other things like that. We get cardboard boxes and paint them, and then fill it all up in a decorative way.  This year we made about 7 baskets, and then we went to the houses! What we do is drive up to their neighborhood, with our car hidden so that they can't see it. Then a couple of kids and a parent go out, and one runs up to the door with the basket, rings the doorbell, then sprints to a hiding place with the rest of the family. The best part is waiting for them to open the door and see their surprised faces! It was really fun, but we were all pooped at the end. :)

It is really hard to get pictures of people running, let alone running in the dark, so I took pictures of the baskets before we left. :)

Life's Little Pleasures

Since  I am not doing very good doing the posts will the names of the days of the week in them, I won't make a commitment and a day to do this. I will try to do it as often as I can, though. So you know those things I like to call " Life's Little Pleasures " ? They are the things and events that are small, but even so you still love them. I will put a couple in each of my posts. Sometimes I will do a picture, kind of like Wordless Wednesday. So, here goes.

Life's Little Pleasures  . . . . .

Having a cup of hot chocolate with marshmallow's on a cold winter night.

Seeing the joy in the face of a little baby girl.

Laughing over something incredibly ridiculous but is still funny at the time with friends.

Getting a little not in your lunchbox from your mom that says a simple " I love you! "

Hope you liked it!

Fall . . . .

Well it is far into fall, but it is super close to Halloween so I decided to post on it anyways.  Well, it is about the middle of fall, daylight savings is tomorrow( or tonight ? ) and it is already getting really dark late at night, and it is getting very very cold at recess at school! The leaves are all changing colors, which are very very pretty, and jackolanterns are coming out on doorsteps, along with other fun Halloween decorations.  My favorite part of the fall, football games, have started, and getting hot chocolate and popcorn at the Kennedy home games are a favorite pastime of mine. Fright Fest at Wild Waves has started, thinking about going to that...... :)  You can see the moon really clear at night, and ( my FAVORITE!  ) Pumpkin spice latte's are hot at Starbucks! Yummm! Halloween is coming up, although I STILL don't know what I am going to be-ugh! I need creative ideas, hee hee.  :)

Pumkin Spice....mmmm...
