Oh Yeah...I Forgot About That

So remember how I remodeled my bedroom? So I sorta forgot about posting the final pictures of that, but I remembered now! So even though I still have to do a couple of finishing touches to my room, I will put the pictures that I took up...enjoy. :)

So Y'all, I finished the majority of my room, I just have like a shelf to put up and do some last touches. But I haven't taken any pictures yet, and I am going to torture you by not letting you see it....it's really pretty! Hahaha. :)

Well I finished painting it, and I have started to put some things together, like my nightstand, and I have my mirror up, bulletin boards up, picture collage up, and a couple other things. I am not going to put any pictures up until the very end, when I have the before and after pictures. yay! :)

Oh No! My Room Is Looking Less and Less Like Itself! ( But I Suppose That's a Good Thing)

My room indeed is changing! Yesterday I started painting my walls with a family friend of ours who also nannies the younger kids, and it is starting to look super different! I finished the last small section today, and my room is all blue right now! ( Except for the ceiling)

All I have left to do is paint the ceiling white and do another coat of paint on my wall. Since it took a gallon to do the whole thing once, I figured it would take another to do it twice really well, so my mom is out getting another gallon right now, as well as a quart of white paint for my ceiling. I hope it's enough!

I also have paint all over my hands and on my clothes. ( good thing they're paint clothes! ) This morning as well as the past couple of days I had volleyball camp at the University of Puget Sound, and it has been great, and I like it better than some of the other camps I have been to. I like this one because it is an hour shorter, which is nice, and it also has college girls coaching us instead of high-schoolers, so the coaching is really good which makes it more fun! I have one more day left, which is tomorrow. Tonight is also the penguin Swim Team banquet, which I am excited for!!! I'm probably not going to get any trophies or anything like that, but it's okay. It is still really fun, with swimming and stuff, so I hope that'll be fun.

 The bench before.....and after......I still need to sew the new cloth on, as you can see, but there is such a difference in the two! Especially after I painted it and got new fabric! The two things really do make a difference. :)

This isn't supposed to be a picture of me, just of my mirror, a shelf taken down, and other things. It looks weird with everything on my walls down! It's so different!

Well, I still have a handful of things I need to get done before I finish my room, but since my Mom is due to have her new baby any day now, and we are going to Massachusetts in a couple of weeks, those will both put dents in my progress, but that's okay because I am really really excited to go to Boston and see all of my Dad's side of the family, whom I haven't seen in a couple of years!!!! Yay!!! :)

Re-modeling My Bedroom

Well when I was 9 I reaaalllyyy wanted to re-model my room, so I asked my mom about it. She obviously said no, but said "When you turn 13, we'll re-model your room" so I gave her a yellow Post-it note, ( I remember! ) and had her sign that she would. so here we are, and my birthday is next month, and I am working on it right now. I started about a week ago, and I have the theme and the colors picked out.  The theme is like antique/Paris, and the colors are some different shades of blue, as well as ivory and this pretty yellow. I have done a couple of things so far, and I am working on painting the walls, but I have so so so many more things to do. I have taken a few pictures so far, and some more I have to download, but here are the ones I have, and I will keep you updated until I am done......

 Here is this old piano bench we had and I re-painted it and got new fabric for the top. I have another picture of it with the fabric, but I still need to upload it.

Closet Organization Time!

Here are ten easy steps (I found these on the internet, didn't write anything )to organizing your closet! I kind of followed it, but I just found it. But I do think I did a pretty dang good job at it. :)

The clothes closet is one of the fastest places in our households to get cluttered. It’s so easy to stick something that you don’t know what to do with in the closet. After all it’s out of the way and keeping some other part of your house from becoming cluttered. The clothes closet also becomes a storage area for clothing and accessories that are OUTDATED, ripped, or stained. It is a holding place for clothes that might come back into style, accessories that were bargain but we don’t really like, and things that cost us a fortune but that we’ll never wear again because we don’t like them, don’t FIT into them, or don’t lead that kind of life anymore.

WHY CLOSETS ARE SO HARD

Cleaning out a clothes closet can hurt. It’s hard to throw away stuff that is still good, stuff that cost us a lot of money. But it has to be done. So think ahead to how good it will feel to have a closet filled with all of the things you LIKE. Think ahead to how good it will feel to see everything in your closet. Think how nice it will feel to look in your closet and not feel GUILTY about all those things you have but can’t wear anymore. Be ruthless, have fun and organize your closet!

START WITH THE RIGHT EQUIPMENT 

Begin by getting the proper supplies: plenty of hangers, an expandable shoe rack, belt hook, tie rack, a closet DOUBLER (another hanging clothes rod that hangs from your current one) or pants and skirts hangers (the kind that hold multiple pairs). I absolutely insist on the closet doubler; I find it more convenient to see and get to the clothes I want -- and, I get more STORAGE out of the available space than in just using a single rod.

BEGIN WITH A CLEAN SLATE 

Remove EVERYTHING (yes, everything!) from your closet. As you remove items place them in one of five piles: “keep,” “repair”, “give away,” “throw away,” and “move.”

THE KEEP PILE

These things that belong in your closet and meet these criteria: they fit you now, you like the way you look in them now and they are in style now. This includes all clothes, shoes, hats, belts, ties, etc. If you are not sure it fits, try it on now. Your “keep” pile should include the clothes you LOVE to wear and the clothes that make you feel GOOD when you wear them. It should include your special occasion wardrobe, too, as long as it meets the above criteria.

THE REPAIR PILE

This is for those items you want to keep but need a repair in order to be WEARABLE. If you are sure you will wear them once they are repaired, take them to your local dry cleaner or alterations shop and have them fixed. If you can (and want) to do the work yourself, gather the repair items, put them in your sewing center and give yourself TWO WEEKS to get them done. If you haven’t gotten around to them by then, gather up the clothing and take them to be repaired by a professional.

THE GIVE AWAY PILE

Items in this pile should be the articles of clothing (or other items that found their way into your closet) that don’t meet the above criteria but that are in GOOD SHAPE. Put these articles in a box or bag and put them in the trunk of your car now. At your earliest convenience take them to your local charity. Or better yet, call a charity that will PICK UP your donations. Remember to get a receipt for tax purposes.

THE THROW AWAY PILE 

This is for all of those things that no longer serve any useful PURPOSE. This includes items that are ripped or stained. Bag those items up and put them out with your household trash now.

THE MOVE PILE 

This is for those items that don’t belong in your closet. Take the time now to RETURN those items where they belong. If there is no room to put a particular item away, make NOTE of the area and put it on your list of places to declutter. Stuff it in there for now or put it in the garage -- but don’t put it back in your closet.

SORTING WHAT’S LEFT 

Now you are ready to put all of the things you want to keep back in your closet. Sort out your “keep” pile into TYPES of clothing. Separate your slacks, your shirts or blouses, your jackets, suits, etc.  Start with one type and hang each item neatly on a hanger, facing all items and hangers the same direction. If you share a closet with someone, keep your clothing SEPARATE.

DEALING WITH ACCESSORIES

When you are finished with the hanging portion, put your SHOES on your shoe rack, your TIES on the tie rack, and your BELTS on the belt hook. HATS and can either be hung on pegs on the wall or placed on a shelf. Once again, if you share a closet keep your items separate. If you have some odds and ends that need a home in your closet -- travel accessories, shoe polishing kit, etc. -- consider buying some inexpensive organizing containers or drawers in which to store them. Many people are finding that an over-the-door pocket shoe holder is great for odds and ends and accessories. You can see through the pockets and the items are easily accessible.

CONGRATULATIONS 

Wow! You did it. Doesn’t it feel good? Stand back and look at your closet and give yourself a pat on the back. Invite your friends over to see all of your hard work. CELEBRATE by treating yourself to something special. You deserve it.

Well I was kind of out of exciting things to do, so I decided to take some pictures of my room, books, and bookshelf. Enjoy. Oh and also, I got into my schools spelling be today! :) It is in a couple of weeks. :)

Kids new-re-decorated room!

Well for christmas the kids got their room re-decorated with new beds, furniture, and other room type stuff for their also-new bedroom! They are really excited about it, as they have had the same room FOREVER, especially John Mark, who has a reall awesome bunk bed that he shares with his equally excited sister, Annelise.  :)
