Song/Artist Review

So if any of y'all have heard of Ed Sheeran, then good for you. You are pretty much caught up in the world. If you haven't, well then shame on you, ( Well, I kinda understand because he lives 4800 miles away from me, probably a little less for you unless you live in Seattle) but if you don't, I will tell you about him .

He is 21, and was born in Halifax, England. He is an English songwriter, singer, and producer. I think his most popular song is "The A-Team" ( look it up, it may move you to tears...haha) it won the Ivo Novello Award for  Best Song Musically and Lyrically. He collarborated with Taylor Swift in her alblum Red, and he wrote the song "Little Things" , ( My favorite song so far for One Direction's album "Take Me Home" , which comes out on November 13th) when he was only 17 years old! It is a very impressive song as well, I suggest you look it up while you are looking up "The A-Team" , which I know you will.

Speaking of The A-Team, it appealed to me so much when I heard it that I learned it on the piano immediately! No, totally kidding. I liked the song when I heard it , but was learning "Live While We're Young" on the piano at the time. I was on this website where I got the music for LWWY, but then this song appealed to me over that one, (it has a more smooth, pretty flow to it) so I put LWWY on hold and now know The A-Team on the piano. I love it. And I need to learn another song because my family is getting tired of listening to me play it. :)

Well, I hope that after this little review I gave, I hope that you will look into Ed Sheeran's music, because he is a really unique songwriter, and he has a really original taste about him .

The Terrible Thing About Books....

I know, you might not imagine me ever saying that, right?

You thought wrong.

Well, I am a ginorrrrrmouuusss fan of books, but the problem is when you have 10 books that all are just calling your name, and you don't know what to do?!

That is my current problem. I have a bunch of books, ( including Heather Vogel Fredricks newest - and last :( - MDBC book, which came out a couple of days ago but I got today because I pre-ordered....actually my Uncle Bob did, for my birthday, so Uncle Bob if you are reading this thank you!!

But back to the problem.

So they are all calling your name, and you don't know what to do!!!

Here is what I did....

I took all of those great books that I want to read, and put them in a stack on my desk. I will name them below if you want to know what they are....but I have a book I am reading at school but I forgot the name, but it is pretty good so far and once I finish that book, I will choose the book I want to read next! I am actually the kind of person that reads 10 books at once, but I am really trying to break that habit :/ and it is really hard! These are the books...

(If you want to know more about them ask me, google them, or wait for a book review which I will probably be doing on a couple of them)

Kisses From Katie -By Katie Davis

Behind the Soiled Curtain -Dont know the author

The Time Travelers- Linda Archer

Son- Lois Lowry ( It is the sequel to the Giver, also by Lois Lowry and an absolutely excellent book)

The Extraordinary Education of Nicholas Benedict - Trenton Lee Stewart (I have done a review on the Mysterious Benedict Society and this is kind of like  a pre-quel)

Insurgent - Veronica Roth ( sequel to Divergent, an amazing book I read at the beginning of September)

Swipe - Evan Angler

The Fault in Our Stars- John Green (I heard this was a really good book, so I decided to get it)

Once Upon a Toad- Heather Vogel Fredrick

Wish You Were Eyre -Heather Vogel Fredrick

I am especially excited about the Heather Vogel Fredrick ones, but the other ones all appeal to me too, so you will have to wish me luck!!

Thanks For Reading,

Book Review

I just read a book called "A Year Without Autumn" , by Liz Kessler. . It is a book for about 9-12 year olds, so I thought it might be a little young for me, but I actually really enjoyed it! I would recommend it for about 10-14 year olds. It was about a girl named Jenni, and her best friend is Autumn. It takes place where their families have been going on vacation for many years, and while on her way to Autumn's place, Jenni takes an elevator that takes her one year into the future. When she gets out she realizes this, and she also realizes that a horrible accident has happened. She takes the elevator farther and farther into her life, and she realizes that she must undo what has happened. This is a great book, very suspensful and thrilling. I finished it very quickly and thought it was an excellent book, very well written. It has some twists and turns, so be prepared for them if you read the book! I rate it 4 stars, ( It's hard to get a five with me) and I hope you also read the book!

Thanks for Reading! ( my blog, not the book)

Movie Review

Okay, so I was a little excited the day after I saw the Hunger Games. Big whoop. Here is the movie review I have for the Hunger Games, in full detail. ( for those of you who have not seen it, have not read the books, or both, and don't want to find out what happens, you may want to skip this because something will probably slip out.  :)   ) So, overall, I think the movie was excellent. The filmmakers and director and screenwriter (Suzanne Collins, actually ) did a splendid job of making the movie. It pleased me, and I believe that it pleased the millions of other people who saw it. I have witnesses. I know of only one person who didn't like it. This person is to remain unnamed. The couple of things I had problems with was that . . .

- They didn't give enough detail.  I think that they supposed that everyone who saw the movie had read the book. They missed a lot of important things that I would have liked to have seen, like

           - Rue climbing and jumping from tree to tree. I read some interviews as well as The Hunger Games, and  it very clearly states that Rue is a climber and jumper and swinger from trees. They only showed I think two scenes where Rue was in the trees. Grrr.

         - Where Katniss crushes berries and sleep syrup together and makes Peeta fall asleep so she can sneak away to the cornucopia! I mean, seriously? They totally just skipped that part and had Peeta fall asleep. It reminded me of a Barbie movie where at the end like the prince comes back up the mountain the bad guy kicked him off and he also has the magical gem that the princess needs, and the whole kingdom is saved.

         - I like how they portrayed a funny Haymitch in the movie, it wasn't exactly like that in the book. They didn't really make it clear that he was drunk, but they missed the part where he gives them advice that says "Here's some advice. Stay Alive"  But did they have that? Noooo.( They also missed a barfing scene with Haymitch, but I am kind of happy they skipped that )

         - So there was this kissing part with Peeta and Katniss, which I don't mind, but here was the problem. Before that had happened, Katniss had kissed Peeta on the cheek. Then Haymitch sent her a note that said " You call that a kiss? "  So Katniss kissed Peeta again, on the lips, for like 10 seconds. Then Haymitch got a bunch of sponsers to send Katniss and Peeta a pot of broth in a parachute. Great. But the film makers made it look like Katniss didn't actually love Peeta. That the only reasons he kissed him was to get sponsors to send them broth. They didn't show that the were falling in love either.  They just whipped out this kissing scene.  And I do believe that Katniss and Peeta were good together, but I am still Team Gale because she has known him her whole life and took care of her family, blah blah blah but that discussion is for a different day.

       - There was this huge riot after Rue dies, which they din't have in the book! In District 11, ( where Rue is from) they have this whole thing where everyone does the three finger salute ( yes! I loved that in the movie! They remembered to include it! ) and then someone I think Rue's Dad goes nuts, and then chaos goes loose, and it's just pandimonium.

There was also a couple of other things, but I won't mention them.  Overall, they didn't really show a lot of details, and there were a lot of loose strings.  But I did like it, so if you haven't seen it yet, and haven't read the book yet, READ THE BOOK FIRST I beg of you, you will regret it if you don't ! And it is a very quick read, a little slow in the beginning, but excellent in the end, you won't be able to put it down.  :)

And also, may the odds be ever in your favor.

Umm...Take a Wild Guess to see what this post is called...

Hello all blog readers out there who have traveled from afar( or downstairs to the computer) to take in the wonderful sights of my blog and my life! Yeah..dramatic and long greeting..perhaps the longest. Anyway Anyways( Grr...I know that 'anyway' is right..I think..but it doesn't sound right to me! ) I have been reading the night away, because I got dropped off at the library after school ended to check out a few...about 7....books, and I just recently finished one. It is called ' Emma Jean LAzarus Fell Out of a Tree'....odd name for a book....yeah, sh actually did fall out of a tree. I have actually read the book before, as well as the sequel to it ( I checked out that book as well. ) and it was just as simply amazing as it was the last time I read it. I also checked out " Moon Over Manifest " which was th Newberry winner...I think....maybe last year was it? Or this year? I don't know, but it still looks interesting, and I also checked out another couple books. Speaking of books, I got another book from Amazon in the mail today, called " Keeper"  and it looks very good, as I read the book review for it on Amazon. A couple days ago, I also recieve " The Gollywhopper Games " as well as " The Candymakers" which both seem excellent choices as reads over the weekend....I also checked out two books from our school library, one called" Mousenet" which is indeed a truly spectacular book so far, I am almost done, as well as  " Cross my Heart and Hope to Spy " . It seems a bit original, as in there have been books like this before, so I am not as excited to read it, but ya know, dont judge a book by it's cover...( which by the way, I do a lot of the time, and I am usually right...keep it in mind that I said usually.  ) Well I originally osught out to have the title of this post be " School, Camp Classes, etc. " But I changed my mind because I didn't talk abotu any of these things, and it would be kind of a lot to squeezealtogetherlikethisinjustonepostwhichwouldbeveryconfusingindeedtoread. Haha. Well, anyways, have an excellent weekend, ( although  will be blogging more this weekend, or at least tonight )

Sincerely,

The Hunger Games!

Well, as you probably know, I have started reading the WONDEFUL series, the Hunger Games! As of the moment, I am reading the last one, it is just as excellent as the first, and you might be wondering if I am Team Gale or Team Peeta, and at the moment I am neutral....I am Team Katniss! Haha.....I don't even think there is a Team Katniss. So anyways, the first book. I will tell you what it is about. So there is this 16 year old girl, Katniss Everdeen. She has long brown hair that she wears down her back every day, and  she lives with her mom and her little sister who is 12, Primrose. ( Prim, for short ) Her dad died when she was I think 11 or 12, and I guess she isn't as close to her mom since. She lives in what used to be The United States, in a place called District 12. There are 12 districts, from 1 to 12, and they are absolutely dictated by The Capitol, the head of all of the other Districts, that tells everyone what to do. In all of the districts, there is one main industry that it takes care of, like fishing, agriculture, or lumber. Distric 12 takes care of mining. Anyways, every year, to remind the whole country of Panem( What the whole country is called. Sorry I forgot to mention that. ) that they still have complete and utter power over them, The Capitol holds a yearly Hunger Games, where two tributes from each district, one boy and one girl, go to an arena, and fight to the death to crown the annual Hunger Games champion in any sort of climate/landscape that the capitol designs for them, a different one every year. ( This is the 74th hunger Games) So to choose, they do this ceremony called the reaping, where they pick names out of these two glass bowls, on for the boys and one for the girls. And since her sister Prim, is only 12, this is her frist time, so she only has to have her name enetered one, unlike Katniss . Anyways, Prim's name is picked. And Prim is kind of dainty, and Katniss knows that she would never stand a chance, so she volunteers to go for her. the boy is Peeta Mellark. And there are SO many details about a whole bunch of other characters and stuff, but I think I will make you read the book to find out what happens.

Hope ya liked it!

The MBS

What is the MBS?, you might be wondering. Well, it stands for The Mysterious Benedict Society. The Mysterious Benedict Society is the first of three wonderful books in the MBS series, First The Mysterious Benedict Society, two The MBS and the Perilous Journey, and three The MBS and the Prisoners Dilemma. I personally liked the first and last ones the best, the second one was okay. Anways, the first book starts out with a child, Reynard Muldoon, ( Reynie for short ) looking at a newspaper that says " Are You a Gifted Child Looking For Special Opprotunities?" ( or something like that, I haven't read the books for a really long time) and he is, so he goes to this building to take a test, with lost of other kids, with twists and turns along the way. The only kids to pass the test are himself, George Washington ( Sticky, actually, because everything he learns pretty much sticks in his head ) Kate Wetherall, ( she has always wanted to be called TheGreat Kate Weather Machine) and Constance Contraire, a crabby, plump, girl, who whines and rymes all day. You will learn fabulous things about all of these four along the way, and see how they end up with Mr. Benedict, go on a very important mission, and create a friendship that will last a lifetime....well a friendship that will last into the next two books. :) Here are what the book look like.

Well, thanks for reading, and I hope you try out these FABULOUS books !

Peter and The Starcatchers Series

Since Peter and The Starcatchers are on of my FAVORITE series of all time, along with The MDBC series, I will give you a little review on it. I didn't write it, but it might make you want to read the book. :) This is just for the first book, there are four books in the series where it is a long time ago, and Dave Barry and Ridely Pearson just came out with a new one, called " The Bridge to Neverland ", which I just got on my NOOK, totally worth every page! It was . . . delicious. It was! I can't help saying that it was just really good! :) Here is the review by some lady..... hope you enjoy!

Fourteen-year-old Peter is an orphan who doesn't exactly know how old he truly is, just like he doesn't know his last name. So when St. Norbert's Home for Wayward Boys places him aboard a ship called The Never Land, along with four of his mates, on a trip to an island ruled by the evil King Zarboff, where they will be forced to serve as slaves, Peter doesn't know exactly what to think. But when he meets up with fourteen-year-old Molly Aster, a rich passenger, traveling with her governess Mrs. Bumbrake, mysterious things begin happening. For instance, Molly can speak to porpoises, and she's hiding information about the strange trunk located in a holding cell upon The Never Land. Information about the magic, and mystery, that the trunk is holding inside. But when the notorious Black Stache learns about the treasure, the passengers upon The Never Land are in for a lot of trouble. Trouble that leads them all to fight with pirates, and become stranded on a desert island.

Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson have created an absolutely amazing re-telling of PETER PAN. Peter is an exciting character who is kind, and fun, while at the same time intelligent, even though he hasn't received any formal education. Molly, on the other hand, is brave and hard-headed, and will appeal greatly to female readers, as she possesses true girl power, which shines through in every page that she appears in. Readers who enjoyed the recent movie PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN will adore the character of Black Stache, as he puts the mean into PETER AND THE STARCATCHERS, what with his nasty attitude, and vicious orders. Overall this is an amazing adventure story that will be enjoyed by male and female readers of all ages, whether they are a fan of the original story of PETER PAN or not.

Shelfari

I recently discovered a website for me, and for all readers! It is called Shelfari, and you can look at it on www.shelfari.com  . It is just like a Facebook, but for reading and books! You can post the books that you want to read, are reading, or have already read. With the books you have already read, you get to review them, rate them, say when you finished them, and then you can do lots of cool other things with them as well, like find other books sort fo like them, or put them in labels like " middle school " or " friendships . " But the cool thing is,  shelfar has the books already read, so if the book is like " Good Night Gorilla ", a kids book most of us have read, it will also put " Gorilla's " , " Animals, " , Sleeping, and other things like that, even for harder books! you can also invite friends to join, and have friends and see books that they are reading! An easy and creative way to keep track of books, and see what other are reading as well!

Drive In

Last Night, we went to a drive in, because our red van is  broken and as a rental car we have a really nice truck, so we saw it as an opportunity! We saw the movie Cars 2, and it was actually really good, much better tan the first one, and I thought it wasn't going to be that good. It was really suspenseful, and I would recommend it to families looking for a good movie, definitely worth your money people! It was about..well of course cars, with a secret agent spy sort of thing, and of course they had to add their " Go Green " into it to make it environmental friendly, but it was really great!

Mr. Popper's Penguins movie reveiw

Today I went out with my mom and some of my siblings to see the new family movie " Mr. Popper's Penguins."  The main story line- Mr. Popper, a divorced man with two kids lives by himself and is a very successful business man. He grew up with his father sailing the world, and doesn't get to see him often. He receives a package in the mail with a penguin, then receives 5 more, and names them. In this movie he grows close to the penguins, does snappy business deals, and learn how important being a family is. Out of 5 stars, I would give it about 3.5 . Although the movie was cute, and nice for kids and anyone looking for a heartwarming movie, the storyline was predictable, but I would recommend it for when it is in the dollar theater.
