This week at school the 6th graders went to camp, so all the 5th graders got to be in classrooms together! ( we have 3 split 5/6 homerooms ) We have been doing really fun things like making mini amusement parks with JUST some rubber bands, a 1/2 yard of tape, a couple of buttons, pipe cleaners, foam, paper clips, and toothpicks. I luckily got one of my best friends Andrea in my group, so it has been all that much more fun! Tomorrow the teachers will be judging which group made the best one, and then the students will vote too. We also have to write a 6-paragraph-minimum-discriptive/persuasive essay about our theme park. We named our park Crazy Land, , and have fun "rides" and a swimming pool and hot dog stand. Our group is also the only one who made mini people :)
We have also been working on this really fun activity, called the egg drop. In groups, students have to create a protecting "box" or some sort of support over a raw egg. The supplies are: marshmallows, 1/2 yard of tape, some tooth picks, and some straws. We drop the eggs from 1 foot to 2 foot and so on dropping the eggs until they all crack. My egg last time cracked at 2 feet :( but I think it will do better this time. The next "dropping" is tomorrow morning, and I'm really excited! The 6th graders are coming back tomorrow too, so yeah, I guess thats it
